Horse Soldier Reserve Barrel Strength is a wheated straight bourbon from the veteran-founded Horse Soldier Bourbon brand, named for the U. S. Special Forces soldiers who rode on horseback in Afghanistan. Built on a wheated mash bill of 70% corn, 20% soft red winter wheat and 10% barley, it is non-chill filtered and bottled at barrel strength (around 111 proof / 55.5% ABV; check the batch label). Tasting notes include toffee, cinnamon, French vanilla, dark stone fruits, sweet oak and licorice root. It earned a Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. A full-bodied, decadent pour for neat sipping.
